I’ve been looking for a vegan leather jacket for awhile but hadn’t been able to find the right one. I’d known about Blank NYC but had never really perused their catalog. Guys!!!! They have such amazing stuff and it’s all their “leather” is vegan! Hooray. And aside from those, they have a ton of other great clothes.
I love supporting companies who share the same vision as me. I get stopped so often in Los Angeles by people who ask about my bags, or my shoes, or clothes and more than half the time they are shocked when the find out their vegan. I feel like if I can help one person to stop supporting the harming of animals, then I’m doing my job (though I’d like to reach a shit load of people).
I never preach at people, I find that has an adverse effect on them. I just share when people ask, and educate people at how easy it is to be vegan. My mom just came to visit for a week and she at vegan the whole time and was blown away at the food she was eating. So much so that she, the woman who swore she would never give up half and half, ordered Nutpods off amazon to have when she went back to New Mexico because she loved it so much. So that is one small victory. Starting at 69 is never too late.

We’ve lived not too far from Kenneth Hahn Park in Los Angeles FOREVER and I had never been there. On a whim we decided to go check it out and take some photos. Holy Shit was I blown away by this park. It’s not only enormous but it’s also gorgeous. There are so many different parts to the park and each one has it’s own feel. I will definitely be spending more time here!

Guys, I’m super excited to announce that I have officially launched my youtube channel! I’m going to be taking you guys all over Los Angeles to my favorite places as well as trying new food products (or just products that are new to me), reviewing beauty products, showing you fashion stuff and so much more! So be sure to subscribe if any of that stuff sounds interesting to you!
All the rain in California this year has been a godsend. The last 6 years have been so dry and our winters felt more like mild summers. But not this year! This year we were blessed with shit tons of rain which resulted in these crazy super blooms! The Antelope Valley and Lake Elsinore were the 2 main spots everyone and their grandmothers were going to take pictures. When we got to “the spot” in Lake Elsinore there were like 200 other people there (i’m assuming a lot of them were bloggers) taking photos. It was kinda cool to see. My allergies were hating every second of it but it was well worth it. We didn’t see any poppies that day but as you can see from the photos we got tons of yellow wild flowers. I hope it rains like this every year.

A few posts back I did a write up about this bomb as vegan clothing line I found called Olaf Designs Studio. Ten percent of all sales are donated to Animals Australia which is something to feel great about. Aside from the top and skirt in the other post, I also got this amazing denim jacket. It is the perfect crop for the summer. Or any day in Southern California (don’t be jealous, just move here). You’ll definitely see me sporting it a lot in the next few months. I love it!

I’m not a huge cook, but recently I’ve been trying to change that. My boyfriend, Adam, and I are always trying to veganize recipes from our childhood. We are huge fans of Beyond Meat products and have been buying the new Beyond Burgers a lot. One day Adam looked at the patties and said, “I bet you could make meatloaf out of these.” And with that…we did!
Here is what you’ll need:
3 packages of Beyond Meat: The Beyond Burger (1.5lbs)
1/2 cup gluten free bread crumbs – I like Ian’s Panko Bread Crumbs
1 flax egg (1 tbsp flax meal combined with 3 tbsp of water)
Mushrooms (I used 5-6 large white ones)
1 cup flat leaf parsley (chopped)
4 cups spinach/kale mix or just spinach (chopped)
1/4 cup ketchup (I try to buy ones without high fructose corn syrup)
2 tbsp Dijon mustard (I used Tabasco’s Spicy Brown mustard which is BOMB!)
1 tbsp Tomato Paste
PS: I guarantee you can use these Beyond Burgers in your mom’s meatloaf recipe and it would be delicious.
One of the things I love about the internet is that it connects you with people that you never knew existed. I am constantly discovering new clothing lines via the inter web, and I especially love ones that share the same values as me, which is why I was stoked to discover Olaf Design Studio. Their mission statement: “Build a wardrobe of beautiful, flattering essentials and feel good getting dressed every morning. Vegan. Sustainable. Ethical. These are the cornerstones of what we’re all about. A Brisbane based label where everything is designed and made under one roof, using fabrics that are friendly to animals and the environment. They look better, feel better and wear longer. Simple, classic staple pieces that never go out of style. It is my hope that by creating and consuming mindfully, we will discourage the pervasive view of clothing as disposable.”
The line is so airy and feminine. It’s perfect for the Southern California weather. One thing I love about smaller, independent clothing lines are the personal touches. When my package arrived there were cute little hand written notes on how to wash the clothes. Now, that might not sound exciting, but the fact that someone took the time to make them means they care. This such an awesome line and I love supporting it, oh and 10% of all sales are donated to Animals Australia…HOW COOL IS THAT!?!
